Parking
Compeitors Cars can be left at the Rakaia Domain, this will allow your car to be parked for prize giving and ease for vehicles turning into the domain while cyclist come down Elizabth Avenue to the Finish. If you have family with another driver your car could be parked on Railway Terrace West over the railway lines from the start and then after the start and they've enjoyed breakfast and coffee at Salmon World they can then move the car on to the domain.
Race Start
You must be at the race assembly on Railway Terrace outside Salmon World at 7.30am and situated at your estimated finish time. Race briefing will commence at 7.45am with the race start at 8.00am sharp.
While the event takes place on public roads these are all open to traffic and normal road rules apply. While a traffic management plan and/or restrictions are in force at the bridges and intersections and other parts of the course, competitors must at all times assume that all roads are open to traffic in all directions. You must obey all road rules, marshals are on the course to direct you but not stop traffic for you.
YOU MUST ABIDE BY THE ROAD RULES AT ALL TIMES - DO NOT CROSS THE CENTRE LINE.
Neutralized Start
Riders will ride in a neutralized bunch across the Rakaia River Bridge and Rakaia Overhead Bridge before turning left toward the mountains, heading towards the Rakaia Gorge. The controlled start, (no more than 35 km/hr) travels approximately 4.00km’s and no one is to pass the lead vehicle. This will ensure smooth flow across the Rakaia River Bridge and Rakaia Overhead Bridge which will be a spectacular ride and something everyone will remember for ever.
Please respect the lead vehicle and do not overtake it. Riders overtaking the lead car and/or crossing the centre line will be removed from the event immediately.
