You must be at the race assembly on Railway Terrace outside Salmon Tales at 7:40am - fastest rides at the front. Recreational Riders will be at the back of the Peleton. Race briefing will commence at 7:45am with race start 8:00am sharp.
While the event takes place on public roads these are all open to traffic and normal road rules apply. While the traffic management plan and/or restrictions are in force throughout the course, competitors must at all times assume that all roads are open to traffic in all directions. You must obey all road rules, marshals are on the course to direct you but not stop traffic for you.
YOU MUST ABIDE BY THE ROAD RULES AT ALL TIMES - DO NOT CROSS THE CENTER LINE AT ANY STAGE OF THE EVENT.
Riders will ride in a neutralized bunch across the Rakaia River Bridge and Rakaia Overhead Bridge before turning left toward the mountains, heading towards the Rakaia Gorge. The controlled start, (no more than 25km/hr) travels approximately 4km's and no one is to pass the lead vehicle or cross the center line. This will ensure a smooth flow across the Rakaia River Bridge and Rakaia Overhead Bridge which will be a spectacular ride and something everyone will remember forever.
Please respect the lead vehicle and do not overtake it. Riders overtaking the lead vehicle and/or crossing the center line will be removed from the event immediately.
Competitors cars can be left at the start or at the finish of the ride. Please do not park in the Salmon Tales car park, Railway Terrace or Michael Street directly outside of Salmon Tales. The start and finish are approximately 1km apart.
